Orderly M&M's

One night last week we had the privilege of having our 4 year old granddaughter over. After we finished dinner grandma gave her a bag of M&M's. This is what she did with them. She always divides them by color and eats one color at a time. Very interesting. I wonder if she'll be an artist or maybe a photographer. Maybe an architect or interior decorator. Does this mean she'll be highly organized? Maybe it's just the way she eats M&M's.

It's interesting how we all see things differently.

Have you had an M&M lately?

I bought a box of Halloween candy. A large box of 50 pcs of assorted; Kit kat, Aero, coffee crisp and small boxes of smarties. I open the smarties and count the candies inside, usually around 10, but last box had 11. I empty them on my desk (at work), and start grouping them by color. sometimes you get 5 yellow, 3 brown. Anyway I matched them up, 2 of each color which makes 10, then I have one extra yellow so I eat it first. Then I arrange the colors side by side and start from one end eating them slowly until there are no colors left.
I don't think there is any way I could eat them at random. So the moral here is that I have a mind of a 4 year old

  2. Bob,

That's funny...great response! If I'm not mistaken you're an accountant, right? If so, it makes perfect sense how you eat smarties. It's interesting how we see things and I like your conclusion...I'm still laughing.

  3. I eat them so fast that there is not time for counting or sorting. Maybe that's why I am overweight?

  4. Danny,

Your way is probably more common, although it would be interesting to take a poll...maybe.

  5. Isn't childhood imagination wonderful when the freedom to "be and explore" with no "shoulds" is allowed? I love the pieces on the placemat ... and I further love the fact that you recognized the uniqueness of this event and made a photo. Well done, both of you!

ps: I've heard the pulled pork is tasty though I have yet to sample it. One of these days -:)

  6. I like your granddaughter's approach! It would be interesting to see how many of each color are in a typical bag of M&M's - I may have to try this.

  7. Chuck,
Thanks for your comment. This time when our granddaughter layed out the M&M's on the placemat, the thought came to me that it could be a blog post. Being new to blogging my mind is starting to think in those terms.

Please let us know when you try the pork.

    Lance,
Don't use this photo as a guide on the color count. I helped her eat some of the blue ones (Papa's favorite color):)

I did a google search about how to eat smarties and you would be surprised at all the methods. Some just pop them in their mouth and bite, others like myself put them in your mouth and try to crack the edges to split the coating, crunch the candy part and savour the inside chocolate filling. Others, usually females, wet the outside and use the colour to paint their lips with blue, red or purple. Then there are those who eat the yellow first, and others who eat Blue last. It's just fascinating . . .

  9. I love peanut M & M's. I eat all the "W"'s first!
Thanks for the mention in your Roseburg post. We should work on meeting up next week somehwere.

  10. Bob,

That's interesting - who would've thought there are so many ways to eat candy. It kind of reminds me about eating Oreo's when I was a kid. I'd hold the cookie down with a spoon in a mug filled with milk until it gets a little soft then eat it. Very good but bad for the waist.

    Dan,

Peanut M&M's are the best - I haven't had those in a while. Maybe I'll get a bag for Holloween; at least that'll be my excuse.

I like your comment about the W's. It's all about how we see things.

    I'll call you tomorrow.

    Mike
